I have no doubt that Al Pacino is a very talented actor, a real heavy weight of the industry. I have enjoyed several of his films including Scarface, Scent of a Woman etc etc etc. However, my initial reaction to the casting of Pacino as Napoleon is one of bewilderment. I may be doing him a disservice and perhaps the superb performace of Rod Steiger in Waterloo is clouding my judgement, but I just don't see him filing the role well. After all, I remember the Merchant of Venice! Not so much his performance as his accent.

I hope he does well and will just have to defer judgement until I have seen the movie.

The bigger question is: why do a movie that only touches on Napoleon's final years in exile at St. Helena? Given one of the most dramatic careers imaginable, why did they limit themselves to the twilight of that career?[xx(]

A good question, Paco! [:)]

Why His final years?
Maybe in order to show "the fall" of the greatest man in the history of mankind?
Because He was politically incorrect?
Because He's enemy no.1 of the Saloon<font color="yellow">*</font id="yellow">?
