Hello Gents

I've been playing online napoleonic battles for the last three years with the Napoleonic MOD for American Conquest - Fight Back:

Image

We also use a Dead Body Patch which allows the dead units to remain on the field which makes the battle more realistic.

I am a member of the hawks onlin-battle community if any generals are interested in our napoleonic battle maps and game then visit our forum:

http://mastersofthefield.com/ipw-web/bu ... /index.php

Our maps are researched and accurate and are sometimes made from actual historical maps with detailed terrain

Wow. Piles of dead bodies indeed. Just like how most of my games finish up.

So you need to buy the game American Conquest Fight Back right? Then install the mods from that website. Graphics look really good.

Hello Andy

You can buy the American Conquest Anthology which is very cheap from play.com:

http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/930979/American_Conquest_Anthology/Product.html

This DVD has three games on it:

American Conquest
American Conquest - Fight Back
American Conquest - Divided Nation

The hawks make and play maps for Fight Back + Napoleonic MOD and also Divided Nation which is American Civil War.

The Napoleonic MOD is downloaded from our site:

http://www.mastersofthefield.com/ew_mod_menu.htm

We play multi player online 1v1, 2v1, 2v2, 3v2, 3v3 or even 4v3.

We host an annual championship with a prize for the winner and we are also going to introduce campaign day once a month, as some of our map makers have created a series of campaign maps:

http://www.mastersofthefield.com/ew_mod ... n_page.htm

Enjoy the pics

Wow! looks pretty cool. Love the troops and cav in the wheat field. Its a bit like an eye-sight colour test seeing who's alive and fighting with such a huge number of dead!
Even the unit numbers look quite realistic (not the number of dead!). Might be worth a look me thinks [8D]

I don't think you need to worry about the members being accomodating about time on line, it's your partner you need to worry about.

The MOD download is quite large and even with a good broad band connection you are looking at 2-3 hours download time. You need a decent PC spec to enjoy the game:

2ghz or more processor
good graphics card
512 0r 1ghz RAM

The Game provides a map editor where you can create your own historical battles. One of our map makers devised a process of creating an accurate historical battle from and actual napoleonic battle map using a bitmap editing technique. This meant that his hills and rivers etc were 100% accurate to that of the historical map.

Our large maps host about 16k of units which is 8k per side if you go beyond that then you can experience lag or game crashes if your not toting a very high spec PC.

The Napoleonic MOD was researched and made by a young Croation Gent who goes by the name of Gexozoid. He has created a wide variety of units for each nation so that we can replicate battles from all the coalitions. Just for the French there are heavy cavalry, light cavalry, dragoons, Carabiner, Mounted Grenadiers, Lancers, Gaurd Lancers, Chasseurs, Line Infantry, Light Infantry, Granadiers, Old Gaurd, Young Gaurd, and many more.

All our maps are free to download and anybody is welcome to join our group for some epic online battles.

2 hours download for Broadband. Wow. That's big.

Sounds like the pc spec requirements are above what I currently have, except at work and I don't think the uni would go a bundle on online gaming. What would you define as a "decent graphics card?"

William - what sync problems do your gamers run into? Latency issues are one big reason why I dont game online much. I enjoyed Combat Mission alot because it wasnt what you would call realtime. The program has places where the players "halt" their movement.

I was a bigtime addict of SM Gettysburg and played it alot online. It too suffered from latency issues.

Do you ever notice units "jumping" on the map or find that you are getting fired on by units that you cant see? That is what happened in the old Talonsoft Age of Sail game.

From a solitaire standpoint I have thought of playing these games but 2 hours of download time ... wow, that is huge. Perhaps you guys would consider selling the mod for the price of shipping and the DVD?

If you play with a broard band connection and a reasonable spec PC you should nor experience game crashes or game lag. Most battles I play are always completed and the odd time do I experience lag or a crash. My PC has a 2.6 ghz athlon processor, Gforce4 GCard and 1ghz of ram which is well over the minimum spec for the game. However you will experience lag and crashes if you play oponents with lesser PCs. If this is the case then using smaller battle maps sometimes helps. However I have been in 2v3 and 3v3 online battles and had some epic encounters and good fun was had by all. You can also record your battles and whatch then afterwards to see what tactics people were using against you.

Yours SW

That's almost poetic.

It's a matter of trade off between housework, keeping the partner pacified and playing games. I solved it by loading the games on my office pc at work. Now it's a trade off between gaming and keeping my line manager pacified. That's all very well for PBEM but online gaming?

Ok. Question. I've never played an online game actually. What happens if you want a wee in the middle of a game? Can you hold it up? The game that is.
