Does this mean he was still poisoned just not by the British but by the environment? Surely high levels of arsenic are not conducive to good health.

It is far more likely that he was poisoned by a Frenchman in the Employ of the newly restored monarchy...

John, didn't you read the article linked?

It's clear that the arsenic levels in Napoleon's blood grew slowly over the course of his entire life. As Drex says, he was poisoned by his environoment. Certainly not healthy for anyone, including Napoleon, but it points away from someone intentionlly poisoning him.

Of course, all of our bodies have built up a certain level of toxins we really don't want in it, which is what seems to have happened in this case.
