Save Feature:
Guys - Dierk revealed something I had never noticed before for the SAVE feature. It doesnt work if you SAVE a game and then continue to do the move and THEN you have a power failure or your computer fails.

You must EXIT the game in order to really save your moves.

If you SAVE the game and continue play the .cpf file does not get written to. It still has the same date and time stamp as when you started the game up.

If you want to really save your moves you need to EXIT the game (yes, just move your troops and do a File->Exit or just click on the windows exit button in the top right of the window). Then the file will be written to with the temp file data.

Conclusion: avoid using the Save feature in the File menu. Its a waste of your time. Just Exit in order to save your moves. And of course use the End Phase button as normal in order to end the phase and send the complete move along to your opponet(s).

Save As Feature:
Another point: for those of you that want to encrypt your campaign games which are the ONE SCENARIO variety such as that in Eckmuhl or Jena you can use the File->Save As feature. This will save the file as a .bte file. You wont see the end campaign screen of course but as you WILL see the Victory Screen at the end its a moot point anyway. You will know the victory outcome for the ONE SCENARIO CAMPAIGN.

Note: this will not work with those campaigns which have more than one scenario. I believe I know a way to do it but right now I dont wish to confuse the issue. Use the Save As function if you want to encrypt those long one-scenario campaign files.

Hope this was found to be helpful. Thanks much to Dierk for pointing this out about the Save feature being useless. It lead me to finding out about the Save As feature in a test I did today.
