Napoleonic Wargame Club (NWC)

My harddrive recently crashed and I have had to reinstall all my games. I am having trouble with PTW. If I understand correctly I must do the upgrade first and then the 32-bit thing. When I run the upgrade a message comes up that says "old file not found" I have then continued to the 32-bit download. Then when I open the game the map files are missing. The screen will be all black with one hex in the top left corner. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on this?

You have to copy a file off the cd before you do the second part of the upgrade. I think it is a readme file or a manual.

Notes and Possible Error Messages when updating:

If the patch fails to locate the proper readme file (Old file not found, however a file of the same name...), simply copy the readme file directly from the CD to the game folder on your hard drive and then execute the update.

Old file not found - This error message occurs when you do not have the update actually inside the game folder. Make sure that you do not have a shortcut created and the update is located in the proper folder.

Old file not found, however a file of the same name was found, no updating done since file contents do not match. - This will occur if any of the files the update is trying to load, have been changed from the files on the original game CD or prior updates, or you have the file in the wrong game folder, perhaps another Battleground game, and the contents are different. We suggest at this point, uninstalling your game, reinstalling it and then applying the update to the fresh install.

Install the game using the TYPICAL option. Download the upgrade from:
http://www.hc-llc.net/games/patches.html
Download the 32 bit upgrades from:
http://fly.hiwaay.net/~tiller/

Place the upgrades in the MAIN PTW folder and UNZIP the PTW Upgrade first. Then do the Tiller 32 bit upgrades.

You MUST do the Talonsoft upgrade, successfully, BEFORE trying to apply the 32 bit Tiller upgrade.
