Thanks Bill,

I tend to play large and medium scenarios about equally. I only tend to play the small ones when a new game comes out and I am getting used to the oob and the pdt.

I will usually play the historical scenarios first and then dig into the alternates. I also play a lot of campaigns and appreciate the ability to replicate historical campaign outcomes (i.e., the course of the decisions and the results of the fighting have led to a historical battle) but I REALLY appreciate when the outcome the campaign battles dictates a change from history. I feel Eckmuhl does this well.

I also like the all in one battles, in Waterloo, Eckmulh (I have played the long version and the 5 days in April version) and in Jena (on game is in turn 140, the other turn 80).

So, to sum up this rambling email. I like to have a title represent all of the historical battles (I have played nearly all of them, regardless of size, in all 5 titles), alternate takes on the major battles, and a deep campaign.

Most of what I am seeing is that you guys mainly like to play the large battles with a few exceptions. I know that Gary M. is not fond of Large to HUGE battles and more guys fall into his category. Also the HUGE ones dont lend themselves well to Tournaments so ...

I am going to stick to making sure that we give you one map HUGE scenarios, the usual LARGE ones, good amount of medium ones for tournaments and for Gary (our resident parson on the playtest team) and of course the smaller ones that detail the portions of the battle which are good for training games in our academies.

Historical was rarely balanced (i.e. Jena for the Prussians is not much fun as is playing Davout in Auerstedt) so Alternate will of course remain large on my list of scenarios to add in. And of course the Campaign scenarios are neccessary to the game. I am trying to concentrate more on giving you balanced scenarios and right now there is still alot of work to do in that area.

Bill,
I agree that historical battles can`t be, in most cases, balanced. The forces appear in historical time and strength.
What I am ask for, as an competetive player, is to even out the disadvantage in men or position by victory points. Give the man out of position or strength an edge in VP´S

Medium (No more than 3 Corps/side)
Small
Large

Alternate/historical - don't care looking for balance. not historical accuracy
Campaign

I prefer balanced battles preferably with about two corp per side or per player if multiplayer. I have exactly 30 minutes /day to play and cannot engage more than two corps in that time and get the move back that day. Big battles (like a full Waterloo just take way too long). It can take me a week to turn a French HPS Historical Waterloo if I command the entire French Army.

I am far more interested in balance over historical accuracy. As mentioned previously in this thread a lot of historic battles cannot be made balanced. Especially early ones in which Napoleon was badley out numbered but the Allied Generals (i.e. the player) were woefully incompetant.

I also would not play the AI at all.(I wouldn't play these games without the club). The AI is much to easy to beat - sorta simulates the Historical Allied Generalship! [:D]

1. I prefer a small to medium size scenario, the large one's tend to end in a fish tail when one of the players cannot sustain the amount of files required to finish the match.

2. I prefer a Historical scenario even though we cannot count on the Napoleon Rules the Battlefield aspect so much.

Besides I have not been able to get a game going in at least a year so sometimes I wonder.

Oh well.
