I have a young, Coalition Lieutenant who says he can embarass you on the field of battle. So who wants to be first, hmmm?

And Marechal Jensen, as I know you to be a fine Talonsoft player yourself, this offer certainly does include you. After all, a Marechal's baton would look quite nice in a Coalition Lieutenant's knapsack. Now you really didn't think that Old Nappy meant only French knapsacks, did you?

Of course if any other French officer would like to throw himself in front of the bus to save his C-in-C, feel free to do so. Our young, Coalition Champion collects French swords as well.

And the bravest officer in La Grande Armee is..........a newly minted Lieutenant! :P :P :P

And a fellow Dragoon at that!

I will pass your name along, Herr Skinters. Now I do find myself wondering, with a joining date of March 2009, whether or not you are a wolf in sheep's clothing? Hmmmmmm. In any case, this is not my battle, so I will turn you over to Lt. LopezGallo and wish you both a most enjoyable, and honorable, contest. Best of luck to you, sir! {Salute!}

Thank you for the introduction Mr. Presidente-

Seems most Frenchmen forget they learnt HPS by playing Talonsoft.

Mr. Jones,

How are you?

I would check if your young officer can beat a brave and ruthless lieutenant of hussars. This will be possible?

Regards.

Do not take the Spanish Brigade lightly, we have some of the finest officers in the coalition. :D

Should any French officer disagree, I'd be glad to teach them a lesson.

Salut! French Victory after 7 turns at Quatre Bras, very bloody for the Allies who are now streaming back to the crossroads. Allied Commander saw sense and to avoid further slaughter, gave up his sword. Vive l'Empereur!

I accept my defeat, surrender my little Ensign sword and compliment my French opponent on his deserved victory.

This is the second battle I lose by surrendering (The first one being Waterloo) both before turn 10

I feel the odds are overwhelming against the Allied side on both battles.

As an open question to those who have played this games:

Are Talonsoft´s Waterloo and Quatre Bras just too hard to win for the Allies?

(Or am I just a plain bad Wellington?)

I think Quatre Bras is very winnable for the allies, not sure about Waterloo.

Quatre Bras you just have to know where to allocate what little resources you start with in order to slow the French down enough to get your reinforcements in.

What happened? I have also played Lt Skinters in that battle and managed to defeat him decisively. It must have been experience and patience that won me the day, I don't know the details of this battle...enlighten us so we may learn from it.

Thanks for the interest Ensign Leeke, I ll be glad to try explaining my defeat.

I commited 2 grand mistakes wich doomed the battle:

The first one:

I lost all my Dutch Light Infantry (3000 + Men)in a ZOC attack-
(I sent 3 Brigades of my brave Duthcmen to attack a Couple Guard Batteries.. Took out most of the guns, but I was unaware the French had SO MANY Troops fielded at the start and they got completely surrounded)

The second One:
I used my complete Belgian-Dutch Cavalry contingent (1000 Men) on a moderately succesful charge to try hold of the blue hordes crossing the river towards Quatre Bras.. Lt. Skinters used the Guard Lanciers on a ZOC charge that destroyed my whole cavalry. The French had about 5000+ Cavalry on the Map or more whilst 1 had only 1000

I had never played Quatre-Bras before (should have checked the troop layout before starting...)

Seems it is the same as Waterloo.. hold hold hold until reinforcements arrive.

Lt. Skinters deserves all the credit for his Victory.

But I wont be playing Waterloo or Prelude anytime soon- I just preffer a battle where both armies ARE fielded at the beggining and the Allies cant be rushed with overwhelming numbers (Borodino feels like a much more balanced fight to me)

I have requested Lt. Skinters a Rematch at Borodino.

Currently my battle with Marechal Paul Johnson is running smoothly with the Russians still holding all the VP at turn 20 and a somewhat balanced kill score.

I shall keep the couriers busy with more news from Borodino as they happen.
