Looking for veteran French Officers for Lutzen and Bautzen. One each for each battle, first come first served.

I wish I had the time.

Maybe after you finish annihilating me at Leipzig.

I have a Lutzen opponent but Bautzen is still open.

I will save a game for you Jeff in any case. Of course you are being nice to me with your comment about our Leipzig battle which is most certainly NOT an annihilation of you in any manner. :D

Has a Coalition officer ever won the Battle of Leipzig yet? I know of numerous French victories, but I don't remember a Coalition victory.

During playtesting the Allies were victorious in the Op Leipzig 74 battles and the multi-player Campaign. But these affairs, at least the ones I participated in, ended on the first day of action...

Thanks, Jeff, but what was in playtesting may not be the same as what is in the published game. Have any Coalition officers ever been victorious in the scenarios that were actually published? I know of 6-10 French victories, but have not heard of a single Coalition victory. Just curious.

The DOR should hold the answer for those completed contests.

I'll take my nickel back on my first reply on this thread. Warren Bajan and I defeated Paco and Bill in one of the 074 games playing the French. It was a bloody affair in the north while in the south it remained relatively quiet as Warren extracted the French through Leipzig and fed fresh reinforcements to the northern battle in the vicinity of Wahren and Breitenfeld. The Austrians never became engaged except for Gyulai's corps.

Ah, a French victory even in playtesting. Jeff, you probably don't know it, but I approve every game for the records in our DoR System. I have seen all of the results there, and I have yet to ever see the Coalition side win. That is precisely the point of my question here to determine if there is an ongoing game where the Coalition is winning of which I may not be aware.

Salute!

I am presently engaged in a Leipzig maneuver with a fellow French officer.
As commander of the Allied forces, I based my plan on the idea that the French will have their best opportunity to do much harm in the first two days of the battle (strength and central position - able to maneuver La Grande Armee against the targets of their choice).

My goal is to survive this opening phase, and then, with continued reinforcement, attaining a hopeful overwhelming strength, be able to finally hem the French in and win a great victory.

The first day is starting to wind down, and though the French did inflict a grievous blow against the Russian force in the SE, the Austrians have survived, and the Russians appear able to link up with them.

The AoS with Blucher has faced only rearguard actions, and is marching ever closer to the presumed enemy concentration.

One of the challenging aspects of a game this size, one never knows if an enemy even numbering 50,000+ is a major threat, or only a feint.

My impression is, the French have to try and win in the first one to two days, and after that, the tide turns to favor the Allies.

As the Allies, strive to avoid defeat in detail, and concentrate the forces that can do so.

The French central position certainly gives them an edge.

Regards,

I agree with your comments and observations of the battle, Todd. I believe we may have discussed this before. Please let me know how it turns out in the end.

FM Blackburn, my apologies, sir, for hijacking your thread. I am dispatching an extra case of Scotch to your headquarters in return for the patience you have shown, and also in the hope that we don't have to go through one of those nasty court marshal proceedings again. :P
