Salute Sir

I shall accept your offer of a drink, Helga my dear, my usual wine. Now I shall sit back and enjoy the said story of Buttercup.

It is a truly magnificent story, Lieutenant Hornsby, but then the Hanoverians are renowned for their magnificent tales. It is a shame that you newer fellows have missed so many of them. If you find the tale of Buttercup to be amusing, I would encourage you to visit our forum archives and research the past writings of our fine, Hanoverian officers. Unfortunately many of the humorous graphis of Die Ratte have been lost, much to my great disappointment I must admit.

There are many other great works by our past officers as well, some of which are absolutely hilarious.

The Hanoverians are passing fair in the art of fiction, but their tales of glory pale in comparison to the exploits of the Grande Armee.

I would like to call the good sirs attention to the following after action report as recounted by the inestimable Eugene.

Alas, we have gone astray from the thoughts, words, and deeds of two magnificent Spaniards, a long way from home, but willing to go wherever needed to stop the misguided, the forlorn, unwashed French whenever their serpent like heads crawl from beneath the rocks.

We have made but a dent in the 400 turns allocated for this epic battle. French forces bent on evil and mayhem first struck at our Prussian brethren led by the august and dependable Fernando, hero of Spain. Casualties have been inflicted but these had to happen in order to lure more of these miscreants into the trap.

On the east side of the map I have ordered battalions of Highlanders to maneuver into line formations. From this position they have mooned the approaching French soldiers. I thought this would anger them and goad them into a rash move. Instead they seem 'excited', with all the wrong meanings that can be construed from it. I know my men will not turn and run now! There will be no turning of the backs in front of those guys. These wide eyed and excitable Parisians are maneuvering within range of my light artillery. It appears we have brought a lot of practice ammo with us, judging from the results. So now we will be engaged on both fronts.

Huzzah! And may the best Spaniards win!!!

I stood tall in front of the mirror in the rooms I use as an HQ. Straightening my uniform and brushing the crumbs from the morning meal from my waist coat. A sad day, but one that must be met with discipline and honor. Maria, my trusted servant and confidant, brought my ceremonial sword from the travel trunk. I nodded to her. I would have preferred a cutlass instead of this sword. Many a coin had gone into that sword. But today I must hand it over to my worthy opponents. Their dash and bravery had won the day.

Time now to meet the honor guard that will take us to the French lines. A major victory to the French, and well deserved to boot.

A sad day ....

Major Bradshaw are you trying to say us Frenchmen bat for the other side as we wear lace and perfume, that is an insult Sir. I shall have my lace glove out and slap your face and call you out Sir.

Salute!

There is much to report from the semaphore station...
The Spanish team has lost one of it's members - last seen in the flash and tumult of battle at Fleurus.

But taking liberal use of the stocks of Belgian ale (and a fine pantry of victuals) stored at Baggins Manor, Major Bradshaw has re-affirmed his commitment to lead the Coalition forces against the eagles of L'Armee du Nord.

We can but salute the Major's courage - and wonder shall a comrade-in-arms come to his succor?

Regards,

Having nearly reached the agreed upon surrender point, a messenger galloped up to my party yelling and waving frantically to stop. As I was looking so magnificent in my freshly pressed uniform astride my magnificent steed Apocalypse, I was reluctant to stay my course. The oil painting of such an event would be breathtaking! Yet, I halted the party. The messenger told us that the commander of the Spanish Brigade himself was coming to our aid. Brilliant, I cried. There is still hope!

I ordered the group to reverse course quickly, in case there were some Irish riflemen in the group of Frenchmen up ahead. We retired back to our respective units ready to resume battle.

Battle on was the cry from the English soldiers. Mein Gott could be heard from the Prussian side.

Salute!

The semaphore station carries the latest reports from the Belgian countryside to the waiting denizens of Paris.

What news is this?
Brigadeiro Barredo is on his way to assume command of the Prussian forces!

It is comforting no doubt for the Tenente Coronel to know that he has a commander who so cares for his men that he will join him upon the battle maps in his hour of need.

Well done Trane!
My respects to you - displaying the honor and bravery I know as your characteristics.

Regards,
