I am your favorite opponent? :D

We go back a long way! 1999 in fact. We joined the old AANGC about a week apart. Come a long way since then.

Have we or have we ever had a lady Officer :?:

Yes, at least one that I can recall. Jane Weightman was in the Anglo-Allied army for a while around the turn of the century.

Yes, I remember Jane. She was a member as was her husband. Good memory, Jeff. Mine not so good anymore.

Sorry fellows, but my Hanoverian personae just cannot resist stating the obvious... :x

Hearing the discussion underway, a Hanoverian Guardsman sitting quietly at his table with his feet propped in an adjacent chair, pours another shot of Jagermeister into his exquisite, crystal shot glass. Casting a glance around the tavern in the direction of the French contingent, he mutters under his breath to his Hanoverian companion, "I don't understand what all the fuss is about. We have plenty of 'ladies' in our tavern. La Grande Armee is simply chocked full of them".

His companion grins and whispers back to his Commanding Officer, "I think they are actually talking about 'women', sir".

"Well if that is the case", replies the Hanoverian Guardsman, "why didn't they just come out and say so?"

Vicars, jugglers or transvestite dress makers ?

Andy don't you have a connection with old pollen, though that sounds a bit rude

This thread is fascinating, who knows where it will branch off to next. No more on females then. Well perhaps a bit more below.

Yes. Ancient pollen and insects. Occasionally bigger fayre from long dead people to mammoths. Recreating past environments from peat bogs, lake sediments and archaeological sites. Sort of like CSI but on a longer timescale. Working on an Iron Age Hillfort from Leicestershire at this minute....the surrounding ditch is full of skeletons of women and children.

One opponent I know - his dad was chauffer to the Kray twins.....

Hmmmmmm! Peat Bogs. Peat Moss. ANDY MOSS. Many surnames derived from occupations, like Taylor, Potter, Baker, Cooper, Farmer, etc. Andy did it in reverse, he found an occupation that goes with his surname!!

On a more serious note, my latest magazine subscription is to Archaeology Magazine (I have an interest in early history) and have read with much interest the finding in Leicester (Greyfriars)of the remains of King Richard III, who died in Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485 (War of the Roses). Of note, also, was the finding of the actual battlefield, which earlier scholars had thought to be a mile or so away.

Another recent find in Leicester was a 1700 year old cemetery.

Fascinating!!!

Gentlemen

Perhaps I can contribute to the odd job discussion.
I have a part time job as a Ranger with The North York Moors National Park.
One of my duties being to drive around in a Land Rover trying to discourage game keepers from killing endanger species (now why does that sound familiar :) )

Gentlemen

To continue the story of the Transvestite Dress Maker I asked her if she had many famous patrons.
She said she couldn't name names but lots of famous "Politicians and Civil Servants"
