Dear NWC,

I am currently playing an 1814 campaign, and find myself unable to encrypt the files, though I checked the PBEM encryption option. Any suggestions?

:frenchshock:

Salute!

Hi Viktor, if you are playing a scenario from the Campaign Menu (cpf files) you cannot encrypt the game.

Only files from the Main Menu (bte files) can be encrypted.

If you are playing a one time only scenario from the Campaign Menu, these can be encrypted by simply changing the name of the game file once you have started (this changes it from a cpf file to a bte file).

You will then access the game from your Main Menu and it can be encrypted.
I do this all of the time.

However, if you are playing a series of connected Campaign Menu scenarios where results from one battle carry over to the next, you won't be able to carry casualties forward to the next scenario.

Regards,

Todd is entirely correct, Viktor. Looks like he beat me to the draw.

If you are playing a campaign game that does not have a series of additional scenarios based on the outcome of the campaign's previous scenario, then you can save the game as a battle file rather than a campaign file. Some of the Leipzig campaigns are a good example, as once the options are selected the campaign continues until completion. In these single choice campaigns each player must complete at least one turn in the campaign (cpf) mode after which the game can be changed by saving as a battle file, making sure PBEM encryption is selected.

Sorry, posted before finished reading all of Todd's post. He is correct as stated above.
