Just letting you guys, that do not already know yet, that I have resigned from working with the Wargame Design Studio as of Friday, March 3rd of this year. Its been 24 years since I signed on with John Tiller and it was a great run while it lasted.
Its time to move on to new ventures and explore different kinds of work which could include writing novels, building historical atlas books as well as picking up the odd side job here and there.
Thanks to all of you that supported me during the work for JTS and WDS. I truly appreciate you and indirectly you were responsible for every title I built.
A big thanks to Mark Adams, Joe Amoral, Rich Hamilton, David Freer, Paco Palomo and our dear friends who have passed on, John Tiller and Warren Bajan. My test team was a great bunch of guys and they stuck with me through thick and thin. The NWC and other clubs always supported my efforts and I truly appreciate their help as well.
I appreciate all of the help that NWC members gave me with historical data and game feedback. We did not always agree but the result was a better product. We all realize the shortcomings of the products but their longevity is due to the fact that JTS & now WDS listen to the customers and try their best to add in new features and correct content as need.
Rich and David continue the fine tradition of what John Tiller started. Their legacy will be their own but if all we are seeing continues, it will be a rich legacy with improvements that John was just not able to make due to time constraints. Now surrounded with a good team of additional helpers, the future for computer wargaming is very bright indeed. They are already making a huge mark in this business and with many more titles and game series coming, I know that they will give us years and years of enjoyment in the wargaming hobby.
I will still be here. I also plan on putting out some of my work for the games. I probably will post a website that will offer that content and I plan on using a donate PayPal link should anyone want to take an active part in helping my work continue. (you will be paying for the site and helping me in life .. not the materials .. and the site will be free to whoever wants to use it .. I need to make this clear right away ...)
Some of the things I hope to build this year will be:
1. Brand new Battle of Ligny scenarios to work with Campaign 1814. I will use the OB in the title that Warren and I worked on together.
2. New Battle of Bergen and other 1799 Noord Holland Campaign scenarios. (not a campaign FILE - stand alone battles) These will be based on Geert's book on the campaign. I will use his work verbatim as my source.
Other new scenarios as I find the time. I will be looking to find a website provider soon.
In the meantime, I have two games going and hope to pick up a couple more eventually.
So its so long to the days of JTS/WDS and off to work on new ventures. If I could find a programmer I would work on more Battle Academy modules and get Slitherine to be the point of sale. I truly enjoyed working on the Fortress Metz product with them and was sorry to see that they no longer wanted to do in-house programmer support for their products. Here's hoping I can land some projects with them.
