Gentlemen,

I was just wondering what Napoleonic literature people were reading at the moment.

For my part, I'm reading a book by John Booth, written in 1852 entitled "The battle of Waterloo: with those of Ligny and Quatre Bras, described by eye-witnesses and by the series of Official Accounts published by Authority. To which are added memoirs of F.M. The Duke of Wellington, F.M. Prince Blucher, Count Bulow and The Emperor Napoleon". It's a long title and an equally long read with 1,179 pages. I'm a fifth of the way through the book and am still on the memoirs section; though it is now dealing with Napoleon. I think I can see how the book is going to develop as Wellington's memoirs are by far and large the more extensive of the four, with Blucher and Bulow relegated to a cursory mention. Hopefully, we will reach the detail of the actual campaign shortly.

I am currently scouring Napoleon's Triumph - La Grand Armee versus the Tsar's Army, The Friedland Campaign 1807
by James R. Arnold and Ralph R. Reinertsen, Napoleon Books, USA, 2011 for guidance as I command the Russian army in the Friedland full battle scenario, which I have just begun. The book has plenty of colorful anecdotes which greatly enhance the game playing experience.

I'm reading 'Life In Napoleon's Army the graphic memoirs of Captain Elzear Blaze' - a name to conjure with for sure.
