Since the medal program seems to be increasingly popular (see some of the posts below), I thought the Gentlemen of both armies might be interested in some overall figures.
63 Battlefield Medals have been awarded to British officers, and 57 to Colonial/French officers. More specifically,
- for the war of 1776, 54 British, 48 Colonial,
- for the war of 1812, 8 British, 9 Colonial,
- Special Battlefield Medal: 1 British, 0 Colonial.
3 Battlefield Completion Medals have been awarded to British officers and none to the Colonials.
Now the threshold has been lowered significantly, we expect some Campaign Medals to be awarded soon. So far, none has been awarded.
No Meritorious Service Medals and no Orders of the Bath, Lafayette, Franklin, and Washington have been awarded so far.

Order of the Bath ??

Must be an English medal. So they get medals for taking baths in England? Is it that rare of an event?

Well maybe so since no one has earned one yet <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle> .

Ah, but don't worry once General Phil gets his Fop, he'll get his bath <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> !

Boy makes the job even more appealing, doesn't it?!

You are not so far from the truth as you might think, Al <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

"The title of the Order is late medieval in origin, It arose from the ritual washing ( inspired by the ritual of baptism ), a symbol of spiritual purification, before knights attended the mass at which they receive their accolade."
