A strong and rugged man. He steps up to the bar and confidently orders a round of ale for all the Bluecoats in the room. Lifting his glass high he announces:

“Hello, I joined the club this morn and would like to introduce myself. My name is James and I have a great fondness for things French. I will do my best to expel the Lobsterbacks from the fine shores of Colonial America. General Washington, consider me at your service.

I have 1776 on order but have not received it yet. I have played the Battleground games and the Panzer Campaigns series so my learning curve will hopefully be short. Perhaps in a couple of weeks I will be able to jump in and do my part for the noble cause.

So here is to Victory! and Freedom! for the oppressed people of America! We’ll not long be paying Taxes without Representation!â€

Hmm. Does he mean the Hessians? Or does he mean you, Mingoe (though you don't know it yet)?

Welcome sir, You best hurry while there are still redcoats left!! As far as oppression goes, Lt. Col Walter, the Choctaw have suffered more under the cruelties of the Creek, than of our American friends..:)

Methinks you have spent tooo much time on the wine, Sir, your loyalities are so misguided. Tavern boasters are rampant in the Colonial ranks, but few come forth to battle,

Ah, but Ernie, some of us are more than willing to come out to fight, as you might remember

In any case, welcome to the army James! Cheers!

Well, let me roll up my sleeves and offer up a challenge to any Colonial who's not talking though their ale. James, I'll be honored to give you your first major defeat or anybody else for that matter. Send a courier to my quarters to discuss a field of battle.

Welcome Mr. Quinn,

I haven't seen your papers yet, so don't mind if I settle in for a bit a lighten your load a bit.

You know they don't accept Francs, or Sous or what ever money you might be carrying where you are likely going. Of course, I might be able to put in a good word for you. A posting to the Garden State? Maybe something in the Old Dominion? The southern belles are quite charming I hear.

Now, did I ever tell you about the time when Sir Phil lost his wig? No? Oh good. There I was, in the swamps of New Orleans when.......

Welcome to the French contingent James! Our fearless leader is gone on a wine search, but should return soon. Until then you can billet with us Wild Geese.

To my bluecoat friends, thank you for the warm welcome. And for those red coats who have replied, I’ll give you a taste of the grape soon enough. Unfortunately the runner from General Washington’s command post has not yet arrived with my copy of 1776. Perhaps in a fortnight we shall meet on the field of battle.

Once I have installed the game on my infernal box machine, I will post a notice here at this tavern. - James
