Some time back I had ordered a few books from Amazon.com, and put a few names (don't even recall who for sure) on the "share the love" program. Basically, it's a system that if I buy a book, and then give someone your email addy, they will offer you the book at a 10% discount. Then, the person offering will get a credit in the amount of your discount. So, if I buy a $15 book, and send you the offer, you would pay $13.50, and then I'd get a $1.50 credit for my next purchase.

I put some people on it more than anything to let people know of some interesting books I had found (hope no one minded).

Well, my point (finally <img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>) is that this may be something we want to do within the club. In other words, if we start passing this back and forth, we can 1) let others know of what may be intersting, and 2) earn one another a few discounts.

Is anyone interested in setting this up? All it would take is saying "yes" that you want to be on the list, and then sharing the names back and forth. Then, when anyone in the group that agrees buys something from amazon, we can put in the names and see what comes up.

I did take advantage of the deal. I didn't know you were able to get $ off next purchases, also. Not a bad deal.

Hi Gary,

This sounds good to me...I haven't been buying many books of late, but I wouldn't mind being included in the future.

Just a thought...but would you be interested in putting this on a web page? Sort of a club "Trading Post" if you will. A place where we can post deals for club members? I have something else to add to it, or will in the near future...

I would have no problem doing that, though I'm not sure how this particular program would work in that respect.

If you haven't used it, what happens is that when you "check out" at Amazon, you are then prompted to enter email addresses, and then an email is sent to each of those people. So, other than knowing ahead of time who would be interested in being included, I'm not sure what role a page would play.

Gary,

I could see the page containing information telling all what interests the people have.

That way if you buy a new book on Samuri fighting and wish to let others know so they could buy it and maybe use the discount to do so, you would know who might be interested in that topic.

That's exactly what I had in mind...something that listed various "deals" etc. availible to the gaming community through various channels. I would suggest making a header area that linked to each specific "deal". Once I get settled I will send you some information about ordering games from HPS that all club members can take advantage of.

Ernie/Garry - any chance this could be linked into the club pages somehow?
