One thing players may want to keep in mind when playing some of the new F&I War scenarios, is that the various optional rules may enhance or degrade play balance.

In the scenarios for 1754 & 1755, with the force committment so low there isn't a great deal of higher echelon command structure to pass on morale bonuses, for example.

With the low quality assigned to Provincials, etc if you are used to playing without Rout Limiting you may find yourself frustrated with the large amount of routing going on.

I recommend you use Rout Limiting ON for these scenarios as it will prevent (to some extent) mass routs, without having to assign quality ratings to units that are unrealistically high.

Perhaps, other combination of Optional Rules will help players find a good play balance for scenarios (in all three games) which they felt were too lopsided playing with thier (the players') normal selection of Optional Rules.

Just a thought. [:)]

Excellent suggestion! Al and I have found that mass routing can seriously affect play balance in these smaller scenarios. The British player in particular can be very lucky to get a draw when his force consists mainly/completely of provincials. Having rout limiting set to on may well make it possible for him to have some play for a minor win, though a major British win is often imo still highly unlikely or impossible in many of this type of smaller scenario, as this cuts both ways and those Frenchies will stick around longer too..... [:D]
It will be interesting to hear what combination of optional rules other players find gives the most reasonable play balance.
