Grenadier units in F&I have Grenadier written as unit type I suppose this is just for show What? Can't seem to find them in the manual. 10% plus in assault or so would be jolly nice[:)]

I think the same goes for "militia" in the updated 1812 scenarios as well as the Nappy games. My guess is that in both cases it's a flag that has been put there so to keep the option open of adding special characteristics later on, if required, without re-writing the scenarios.

Dierk is spot on. The (G)renadier troop type has no special capabilities at this time.

The Grenadiers were elites, and in some Armies were very tall men. It is assumed the are more accurate in their fire power because they were steady under fire. If they were indeed larger men, the might be more effective in melee.

If the Grenadiers get a bonus in their combat abilities, they should also be worth more points to the enemy who kills them. Just like cavalry points are higher, so should Grenadier kill points.

In the miniature game, Column, Line and Square by Fred Vietmeyer, Grenadiers were given a bonus in fire and melee.
