Reposing especial Trust and Confidence in your courage, loyalty, and good conduct, by virtue of the Power and Authority to me given and granted by His Majesty's Commission I do hereby constitute and appoint you to be <font color="yellow"><b>Commander of the Centre Column</b></font id="yellow">, British Armies in America, during pleasure, You are therefore to take the said column into your care and charge and to duly exercise as well the Officers as men thereof in arms, and to use your utmost endeavours in pursuance of the trust in you reposed, to keep them in good order and discipline; and I do hereby command them to obey you as their commander. And you are to observe and follow such orders and instructions as you shall from time to time receive from Myself Your Commander-in-Chief or any other your Superior Officer according to the Laws and Regulations already made or what shall be made for the British Armies in America.
