Colonial Campaigns Club (CCC)

I'm enjoying these <i><b>TACTICAL LEVEL </b></i>games I've been playing since joining the CCC. But an old <i>(actually ancient) </i>wargaming buddy and I are missing our old <i><b>STRATEGIC LEVEL </b></i> paper map & cardboard counter WWII game. Any suggestions for good computer PBEM substitutes. We are presently looking at James Burnett's "Second World War: Storm over Europe" which is freeware but requires Aide-de-Camp 2 to operate. We've also seen "Grand Europa" mentioned a few times.

We enjoy playing the entire theatre (or World) at once with a little political role playing thrown in. Half the fun is re-writing world history...Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

This is an extremely detailed, rather complicated turn-based wargame.... but so addictive !! The best wargame I ever played....

There's a demo you can download if you'd like to give it a whirl before commiting. It's basic, and can be lots of fun. There's a pretty decent community with tournies etc.

Computer Third Reich is still entertaining after all these years.

PBEM is a bit of a pain with a cumbersome interface, but it is fun. (Even slightly addictive solo!)

Actually Avalon Hill was advertising Computer 3R for so long, I put off buying the board game since it was always due out in three months (for three years+)

Panzerblitz, Panzerleader, Squad Leader (never ASL) and the like were my bread and butter.

But no, I am not quite that old...
