Who was the first free agent in Major League US Baseball?

Hint: his name is the same as one of our club board settings!![:D]

Darn! I wish I woulda seen this one earlier. I'm 99.9% positive it was Flood. I've lived in the St. Louis area my entire life, so that was big news back when it happened, although I wasn't quite born yet!
