to all you guys...if you love the american revolution period i find a dos game that is greeeeaaaatttt!!!
it's a small game but have all that you need in a strategic game.
you have to equip your regiments, give them food buy arms and powder, even construct cannons, built boats for crossing the rivers and lakes or transform them in fireships. you must recruit new regiments, training them and send the poor young boys to the battle. the game have a lot of options...it's hard to beat...you choose between the british and the americans, them you assigned a commander in chief, i choose washington for the americans and howe or clinton for the british. After this you receive some money from the congress or from the british parliament, them you have to distribute by the navy, and by the army. you choose what region (new england, the middle colonies or the southern colonies) you want strenghten the navy and what type of job she do (if she is prepared to blockade the coast or transport the troops, or assist you when you invade the districts near the sea. you can recruit german mercenaires from europe to...
the map is diveded by districts. this districte form a province(massachusets, new hampshire...new york, virginia...etc...) each of this provinces have one governor and if you can´t control his province he in the end of the year perhaps votes "nay" 50% of nays and you must resigne...remember you are the commander in chief. the game have another type of map, the tactical map appears when you begin a battle. these kind of maps represents the real topography of the districts with mountains, hills, clears, rivers, fords, forest, lakes and oceans. Some have wooden forts or stone forts, or both. each regiment is comanded by one official with many caractheristics: like the tactics, moral, loyalty, health etc...the regiment have at it's maximum 500 men. in the battle this number decreases.
You may lost battles because you don't have sufficient powder or food.
This is a political game too. you must win the support of the populace or you must maintain trrops in this distrit by force...you make amphibious attacks to. it's a dos game but it's great!!!
you must see....

Is this the old Koei game "Liberty or Death"? If so I believe it's around as abandonware.

Phil, you're correct.

I found it on a site with a bunch of 'obsolete' games.

you must go to the underdogs site (just write home of the underdogs) them go to the strategy section, you found two games about the american revolution: the game i talk about "liberty or death"; revolution 76, another good game and sons of liberty a old dos game...not so good.
if you like the civil war you just found a great game there, his name is no greater glory...men is a must have...
