...or Fat George sings! He's singing this morning, as my Second Pennsylvania Battalion has tasted the agony of defeat in my most thrilling and enjoyable game thus far in this club.

Serjeant Ricardo Sanchez Bonachia has led the Queen's Light Dragoons to an amazing turn-around victory at the First Battle of Saratoga. This battle went to the British early on but then the Americans fought viciously at Freeman's Farm eventually surrounding and destroying large numbers of Redcoats and capturing several artillery pieces. During the action at the Farm Gentleman Johnny Burgoyne was captured by American forces.

The American pressed the attack but lost the redcoats in the woods. Meanwhile, the Americans pulling additional forces to press the attack left their rear positions lightly garrisoned and vulnerable to attack. The Brits, under cover of the woods moved to several strategic positions. Meanwhile they also maneuvered in the south along the river in plain site.

Near the end of the battle <i>(when I was convinced I had already won) </i>the British commander launched his final assaults. Taking five strategic objectives in the last five turns (<i>three of which were on the very last turn)</i> and captured the American Commander Major General Horatio Gates!

I must take my hat off to Ricardo for never giving up and for turning an American Major Victory to a British Minor Victory. Ricardo and I will collaborate on an after-action report for this one as it has good lessons for both armies.
