Would their be ways to program army morale into the game? For example, say Washington is killed in a particular battle. That would be devasting, and it would be interesting if you made the American units more susceptible to routing after that event(Auto raise fatigue?) You could do the same with certain objective hexes or retreat paths. Here's another one. Say a unit does something extraordinary on the fire/melee table, there could be the possibility that the unit in question could improve its morale, kinda like the seeing the elephant thing. Or a "green" unit survives its first three morale checks and thus goes up one lvl in quality?

Well, if you are gonna do that, then at least give a minor chance of a "Swedish Special"... you lose your commander, and the entire army goes to A+++ morale <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
