The US Senate declared April 6th as Tartan Day, a celebration of things Scottish, in 1998. April 6th was chosen to comemerate the Declaration of Abroath.

In 1320, Scotland declared independence from England on a paper including the line:

"We fight not for glory, nor riches, nor honors; but for freedom alone, which no man gives up, except with his life."

My Celtic Light Infantry will be celebrating this day then. We have Celts from all places and welcome all. While I have more of the Irish in me than anything, on my mother's side is the Clan McCord. Let the pipes play and the dancing begin.
