On behalf of Congress, I am pleased to announce to promotions for the first week of May:

Chris Hopper of Al Amos' 1812 Regulars has achieved the rank of Ensign.

On behalf of Major O'Connor and myself, congratualtions.

It would also seem that after my recent sacking of York, (which has Sir Natta's tights in a bunch - I think he is planning to burn Washington for it. He is roughly handling my poor militia along the road by Bladensburg) I have joined the famous Mr. Amos as a Lt. Colonel.

Looks like I'll have to order new stationery. {Perhaps I can slip in a requisition for a few hogsheads of Rhum from Martinique....Hmmm....)

I think we now have a 'batch' (or should that be a gaggle?) of Lt. Colonels in the Colonial/US army right now.. it's obviously the 'in' rank to be having right now..<img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

Gosh! An Ensign now! Thanks gentlemen! Now where is that comely and buxom Patriot Barmaid! Come here lass! Repeated rounds of your finest brews by that great man Sam Adams on me for all true patriots! Heck, I reckon you can give one to those detestable Rebcoated ones and their Hessian lapdogs as well. They probably will not be able to handle more than one, so water theirs down so their delicate constitutions can deal with it! Don't want their wigs to come askew and powdered faces streaked with tears! That just wouldn't do during a celebration!

I knew that oversized monstrosity (how many polyesters died to make that wig Phil?) would squeeze the pretention of good manners out of him. Not surprising that he's finally flipped. Retort for retort Mr. Amos. I do applaud all advances in rank, and I will freely apologize to my British brothers-in-arms for the unexpected ruckus. But no other apology will be forthcoming sir. In fact, you have drawn your weapon on me, (looking down on a very rusted and ill kept sabre) a serious breech of etiquette and a direct challenge which will not go unanswered, unless you apologize sir. Since you've seen fit to intervene in this affair, Mr. Hopper may be excused from action, should he decide to do so. If you insist.. my plate is seriously full at the moment, so a medium is about all I could handle... but perhaps something like New Orleans or Ft George?
