To <font color="yellow"><b>Allen McGillivray</font id="yellow"></b>, Sergeant in the East Florida Rangers

Reposing especial Trust and Confidence in your courage, loyalty, and good conduct, by virtue of the Power and Authority to me given and granted by His Majesty's Commission I do hereby constitute and appoint you to be <font color="yellow"><font color="yellow"><b>Commander of the Provincial Forces, British Armies in America</b></font id="yellow"></font id="yellow">, during pleasure, You are therefore to take the said forces into your care and charge and to duly exercise as well the Officers as men thereof in arms, and to use your utmost endeavours in pursuance of the trust in you reposed, to keep them in good order and discipline; and I do hereby command them to obey you as their Commander. And you are to observe and follow such orders and instructions as you shall from time to time receive from Myself Your Commander-in-Chief or any other your Superior Officer according to the Laws and Regulations already made or what shall be made for the British Armies in America.

Given under My Hand and Seal at New York this Twenty-fourth day of March 1776 and the Sixteenth year of His Majesty's Reign,

Thank-you sir. We will do our utmost to end this most unfortunate state of rebellion. The greed and avarice of a wealthy few seem to be what motivates this insurrection, and if these rebels cared for the happiness of all men, then they would cease and desist this nonsense and remain loyal to the King.
