Colonial Campaigns Club (CCC)

My wife and I have just returned from "Colonial Williamsburg" where we had a great time. We also visited the "Yorktown" battlefield. At the time some of the park roads were closed because of the very large trees that had fell during the late Hurricane and had yet to be removed.
But I was wondering about the "Yorktown Victory Centre" which we did not see. I believe it is run by the State of Virginia. Has anyone in the club been to it and can they share their experience? What is there to see?

Yorktown Victory Center and Jamestown Settlement are both run by an Commonwealth of Virginia and are designed for families. They are living history centers with reproduction forts, cabin, indian villages, ships, etc. and are pretty good for teaching kids about history in a family setting.http://www.historyisfun.org/

Yorktown Battlefield and Jamestown National Historic Sites are different. They are both run by the National Park Service as part of colonial National Historic Park and are on the original sites. They are not as interesting to children, but offer real live archeology and cater better to the avid adult historian.http://www.nps.gov/colo/index.htm

All in all, the historic triangle (Williamsburg-Yorktown-Jamestown) offers a lot and in varied tastes.[:D]

I found Yorktown and the entire Williamsburg area a very interestng historical area. Yorktown has some well preserved areas and is interesting.

I have been to the area, twice, and plan on going again.

Yes the victory center is very family orientated. They have cannon demonstrations, a small wooden ship you can walk through and other smaller events/demonstrations. The battlefield has markers and flags showing positions of various units. There was a civil war battle fought in the area as well. It's one of the reasons some of the battlements can still be seen. They built them on top of the revolutionary war locations.
