Well, with Christmas, I have the opportunity to buy myself a few books, and one thing that these games always does is bring out the desire to know a bit more about what happened. Now, I have some books on the Revolution, but the War of 1812 is pretty much absent from my shelves. All I have is John Eisenhower's Agent of Destiny: The Life and Times of General Winfield Scott (a very good book btw, highly recommended, both for the War of 1812, and also the Mexican War and some of the Indian Campaigns as well.)

Are there any others out there. What I'm especially interested in are general histories of the Land War, though individual battles would be ok also.

Al, thanks

Found the Bib, found a book that was just what I was looking for, ordered from bn.com, and all is well.

Still though, if anyone has any books on either war they want to recommend this would be a good time for it, especially stuff that's not on the bib, though stuff that is thereis fine if you want to make sure we don't miss it

Hi Gary, may I suggest the Incredible War of 1812 by J. Mackay Hitsman published by RBS which I am currently reading - although slightly partizan towards the British/Canadian side of the conflict, it is a very good read with maps of the major battles and lists all the units that fought for both sides - highly recommended!!
