Just got back from vacation and wanted to say that I got a chance to read George Washington's War. What a fun read! Really enjoyed it. Now I will probably be on to Hickey's War of 1812. Thanks again all for the recommendations.

Oh, almost forgot, Maj. Bill Peters, you suggested a 2 volume set on the Revolution. Did you ever find out the title of this compilation? Just curious. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Just picked up 'The Incredible War of 1812, A Military History' by Hitsman, updated by Graves. Haven't doone much more than finger the pages, but this new edition shows promise. Seems mostly written from the British/Canadian side. Decent maps.

Currently reading ' The Winter Soldiers, the Battles for Trenton and Princeton' by Ketchum. I like this one a lot. Also touches on the battle for Long Island.

I think I got both from the TheHistoryNetShop.com online store.

BTW a pullout section of Military History, October 2002 issue, has a nice article on reenacting at Fort Ticonderoga. (Although what appears to be a photo of French column is ID'd as British.)

Gary,
I'm glad you enjoyed George Washington's War. It was the first book that made this period of history come alive for me. Thank you Mr. Leckie,
