One way to limit the incredible amount of movement we see was to put in 10 min. turns but another is to use a House Rule whereby all units within 5 hexes of the front may only move 2-3 hexes at most. Reserves could move full MP allowance to get them up to the front and then they too would fall into the same category. Charging cav are the exception of course.

Thus it would be impossible to suddenly pick up an entire brigade and move it to another part of the battlefield in one move. They would have to pull back out of the 5 hex range and then they could redeploy ...

This would reward the player that keeps reserves ...

It would also stop alot of unhistorical "gap shooting" we see in the games. It would not prohibit a flank attack on a frontline unit. It would stop those rash charges for supply wagons, leaders and so on that are behind the lines.

I love command points as well. Another way to play the battles is allocate a number of brigades that one side can move per turn.

I like Oreo cookies too! [:D]

But of course, we are talking about one of my ideas! [:p]

Just a shade less crazier than some of Al's! [:D]

And a touch crazier than some of Ernie's. [8D]

I like Bill's idea and I would like to see it implemented in the HPS engine. It could be a very simple optional rule that all non-routed units within 5 hexes of non-routed enemy units begin the turn with 1/2 MP. That simple...

edit: Also I would like to see an optional rule that would not allow units with max fatigue to attack in melee (defending and musket fire allowed), that would really add a great deal of offensive power to those who keep fresh reserves while preventing late battle slaughter by fatigued (which means almost desorganized to me) units... If both sides have max fatigue units then in fact fatigue is not working because both sides are weakened the same and their relative strengths remain the same.

No, no Rich, you have to eat Oreos dunked in milk. Hold them until they soften, but not to the point they fall apart in your fingers and drop in the glass. Ummm good!

Al - we all know that there are three things you never discuss in the US:

1. Religion
2. Politics
3. How one eats their Oreo cookie!

Colin, here is the Oreo website. Great cookies!

Guarenteed to blacken your teeth! Someone might sneak a Fig Newton at night but never an Oreo! [:D]
