How about some different season maps? Maps with more low-lying marshy ground in Winter & Spring, but less in Summer, and with some streams becoming impassable rivers with spring floods or perhaps becoming dry river beds by mid summer.

Also, surely fields should only obstruct LOS once the crops had grown (although this would be a pdt rather than map change)

Rich - this DEFINITELY lies outside the scope of what I will do for a game. While I know that you like variety I am leaving the seaonal changes in terrain to John Tiller to figure out. I dont want to do alot of map work when a change to the code as you see in the Panzer and other series will do the trick.

So dont look for a winter or fall versions of the maps come from me. That is definitely NOT in my balliwick.

(Please forgive all the quotes above, but it is very germain to repost them here.)

To all:

The only real solution to Richard's request is to give us a comprehensive map editor.

That way Bill won't have to worry about his balliwick.

I mean, I love this game, but the situation is getting to be rather silly.

When you consider that real competition may be on the horizon with "Black Powder Wars: Battle of Napoleon," it just doesn't make sense to keep your cards so close to your vest.

What is going to happen when this tactical level competitor is released with a FULL map & OOB editor, covers the entire Napoleonic Era, has a good AI, is we-go, and allows everyone to do what we can't?

Maybe there is one more real title (1813, Leipzig, etc...), but don't you think that it is possibly time to do things a little differently?

Respectfully,
Rick

Alo gents,

I came across this thread in my rearch of on Eckmuhl for my OWN type of game, that is, the RTS game American Conquest/Fight Back with the Napoleonic MOD. I know we play VERY different tpyes of games, but here are a couple of sources I used to create (using the game Editor) my own field representaiton of this battle. http://www.mastersofthefield.com/drakes_things/Echmuhl_research.zip

I am Leader of a group that is dedicated soley to re-creating using game Editors, historical battles and fighting them, on-line against each other (westarted in Cossacks/AOW, currently AC/FB with MOD but soon AC/Divided Nation). We are the Hawks http://www.mastersofthefield.com No, we do not fight extremely accurate HEX games, and there are certain things that happen during our battles that are not to realistic, but still, the play is epic. Moral is a key factor as companies hit in the flank, or having received a "whif of grape" run the risk of falling apart. I share now some scenes from my Eckmuhl map (which took me a week solid to create, it's like painting really) and encourage any of you who might want to try fighitng as we do to visit our Forum, say hi, and let us get you started.
