Name the commander and name the battle and what is significant about him and Oct 6?

He is short, puts his hand in his grey coat and generally wears a bicorne. The night before this battle he was surrounded by his Guard.

The battle is well known for an impetuous Ney as well as a dashing Murat.

Who is the general, what is the battle and what do they have in common with October 6?

Battle at Castricum in 1799 ( Second Coalition )

The General was Napoleon

The event I think is when Ney, Murat and Napoleon first met...

This sounds like Jena to me. Obviously, Napoleon passed the night before the battle in his tent among a battalion of his Guard, and the battle featured both Ney and Murat in the roles described. But it was on 14 October and I can't link it to the 6th other than by the rather obvious fact that the campaign began on that day. Maybe someone else can think of something ...

I was confused by Bill's referance to Napoleon as General...

Going strictly by the date he gave ( October 6 ) I found the battle I mentioned..

I had thought of Jena but could find no October 6 battle date for that campaign.

What does Oct 6 and this general and battle have in common?

Why its the day you can pickup HPS Campaign Jena-Auerstaedt! And find out how you would have done as the French or Prussians.

Enjoy guys.

Funny, then. Exactly 200 years after the historical campaign start. [:)]
