Gentlemen,
I have the opportunity to be in the Lake Garda region of Northern Italy next month with a day to spare.

Can anyone recommend any books about the campaigns in Italy, and/or any specific info about seeing the Rivoli and Arcola battlefields?

Regards,

The Road to Rivoli by Brown is good.

Also Eagles over the Alps about the campaign of 1799.

I strongly suggest the following book: "The Defense of the Napoleonic Kingdom of Northern Italy, 1813-1814", By George F. Nafziger and Marco Gioannini. I received it today.

I ordered it direclty by Nafziger from his site, here the link:

Some of the major actions of the campaign took place in the Garda lake - Mincio river area.

Regards,
Luciano

I'd also suggest "The Road to Rivoli" by Martin Boycott-Brown.

In addition I recommend "Napoleon's Italian Campaigns 1805-1815" by Frederick Schneid - a good account in English for campaigns of 1805 and 1809.
