Maybe this has already been pointed out, but I haven't seen it.

I just got "The German Way of War" by Robert M Citino, 2005 University of Kansas Press

The following is from the Acknowledgements:

quote:
No one can write without inspiration, and this is a good opportunity to thank the many scholars whose work has stimulated my thoughts on this topic. Dennis E Showalter deserves special mention. Reading any of Dennis's numerous books and mountain of articles is both a challenge to the intellect and a delight to the senses. Goeff Wawro is a close second; his recent books on the Austro Prussian War and the The Franco Prussian War are modeals of scholarship, concision and great writing. Likewise the words of James Corum have always inspired me with their intellectual rigor, honesty and plainspokenness. Every time I read a new piece by Richard L. Dinardo, I see the bar being raised in the field of German military history, and the same thing goest for the work of Geoff Megargee. German-language historians, too, are making a major impact, from establish scholars like Stig Forster to fresh faces like Dierk Walter. The field is currently in a vibrant state, and these scholars are the reason why.

Aw now we have to bow and scrape every time he comes into our presence.

Dont look now but here he comes (much bowing and scraping).

Good for you Dierk! You were a GREAT help to me for the maps for Jena. Dierk helped me eliminate towns that didnt exist in 1806 (or before 1930 for that matter) and correct spellings on the names of the towns and so on.

He would also point out lakes that didnt exist that are on the newer topo maps, these bodies of water being formed after mining operations had ceased. Always nice to go swimming in water diluted with lead!!! [:D]

A regular "On the Road with Dierk" kind of guy![8D]

Come on, gents ... just a one-word mention at the end of a long paragraph. I suppose Dennis has (yet again) been kind enough to beat the drum for me. For some (yet undiscovered) reason he seems to think I am a good historian. [:I]

I am sure there are plenty of people who think the opposite. [B)]

C'mon, who will first to get drilled? [:D]

Ok, so your history on the Idaho mining days may be vague. But we can freshen you up real quick!!!

You see, Ernie was drifting West one day and ....
