Sir,

Some previous thoughts from the archives.

I thought it might be interesting to reprint a series of posts I made back in 2003 regarding HPS' Napoleonic series. Hope you enjoy it.

Part I - Let's get physical

Okay, let’s look at a couple of things here, physical space of a hex and drill & formations for Napoleonic troops.

In the area of physical space represented by a hex I would like to start by saying there is one line of thought that the hex is abstract anyway so defining limits is somewhat moot. Another line of thought is the hex area does need defined. I think it does so that we can extrapolate historical dimensions into game terms.
According to the game a hex is 100 yards by 100 yards. This is 3600â€

Al
I can see this debate as almost indefenite my view is that any game is a balance between playability and historical fact, Clifton don't you agree?

PS I forgot to mention before that your post is a shipload of intellectual stuff, good on you.

Actually Al is inserting this based on a recent family reunion! Its amazing how many folks you can get in a small house! [:D]

Al, this is great stuff to resurrect now and then. It should be in our club archives ...

Al,
this would be MUCH more interesting if you would spend a few hours typing all of that in instead of just cutting and pasting!

Clifton,

I played miniatures from '72 to '97 mostly the Empire family of rulesets for Naps, although I like From Valmy to Waterloo better than the Empire series. I ran several campaigns especially liked using the Empire Campaign systems.

Mon Col I would think that any one who has played Ming fgs would never disoranizes his Inf by standing them in the middle of a gun Please ! Merci Mon Col for your thoughts.
