So what do you think would make the ideal Napoleonic man from the French perspective of things?

Well Scott I feel this may be a trick question but my answer would be the Emperor of course. Short but with a computer like brain, somewhat full of yourself [:D] , brave and daring but calm in the heat of the battle. Yann may correct me but I think the French call this Sang Froid (spelling)

Perhaps also the ideal Napoleonic man would be very rich with a huge wine cellar he threw open for club members.[:p][:)]

I've always been partial to Augereau and Lannes, but if I wanted one to command me it would be Lannes.

I'd have to go with Jean Lannes as well. Davout was certainly a brilliant general, and the best that Napoleon had, but there is an argument to be made that he lacked the dash and flair that one would expect of a general of Nappy's caliber. Now, old Andre Massena is perhaps my favorite of the Marshals, being the rogue that he was but he strikes me as more of an 18th century sort of general...

I would say... if it's a Marechal Davout...

If it's a politician: Joseph Fouché
