First off, let me state that I realize the HPS titles are newer and more detailed, and perhaps this has a lot to do with my problem, that of finding opponents for the BG titles. For example, two weeks ago I posted an opponents wanted notice for a BG:PTW game, and got 0 responses. Now I will concede that it was a request for a ficticious "What If" scenario of my design, and perhaps that is the problem rather than the game engine, but I thought that before I continue posting requests for opponents on this sort of scenario, I would make this query.

How many of you still use BGW, and/or BG:NIR, and/or BG:PTW?
Those who do use BG, do you oppose DYO scenarios?

Yes.

No.

I keep a maximum of 2-3 Nappy games going on. I play either of the series, BG or HPS.

I am not against playing any scenario.

Ensign Davis,

My answer: Yes and No

Now a large section of the club has migrated to the HPS titles. BUt I'm still, I think, the #1 trainer at the French Ecole for the BG games. If you can wait a month I'll have another fresh Lt for you to work on. He has no HPS titles. I also just graduated a Lt AuCoin who also plays the BG titles.

Yes. I have several games ongoing using the old BG system. Some old stalwarts like Barrett refuse to evolve with the times.

No objection to DIY scenarios depending on how much they have been considered during design. I've seen some truly dreadful designs.

Probably most allied players remember the original Twin Battles scenario from PTW and what a romp that was usually for the French.

Nope, don't play the BG games.

But yes, playing custom stuff is fine...and glad to see people getting into the editors, even if it is with the older games!

Yes, I play BG games as well as HPS. Each has its own merits.
I generally do not play DYO scenarios. I could be wrong but most are not well thought out. I might be agreable as part of a playtest effort.

Greetings,

Not only do I still play the BG titles, I still prefer them to the HPS (I'm a sucker for graphics and always play in 3d)

As for DOY mods, I am willing to play them if they are debugged. I don't mind playtesting but I prefer to know what I am getting into.

I would be happy to play a short/medium BG scenario if you are looking for an opponent

I would play the NIR game if the engine had single phase capability.

Thus:

No, I dont play BG anymore but miss the lovely map graphics. The units are about the same for me as that part of the game didnt matter as much. But the NIR map! Ah, muy bien!

and

Yes, I love DYO scenarios. I tend to favor them over the stock scenarios. As many of the members know I run a close second to Al Amos for variant scenarios.

HPS only at this point.

I prefer stock scenarios to DYO's, though I will play either.

Just the HPS ones for me.

Great to still see guys playing BG games. I have never played one by email. but i would find it to slow.

Monsieur Bonjou, I like HP my reason is simple one art hit on a enemy 20or less depends on the range for +20. Next game size! Next I was with them Bg from Baltimore to Rockville long history they would never evolve past what they are now. Bill has made a big differences in cyber game play.Next has to be no more 32bet ease of installation most I go on but I do play them and always lose which is the main reason!

Primarily, HPS but every once in a while I will play a BG title.

I have PTW installed on the newer PC (Twin battles unleashed is lots of fun), but have not done so with NIR or BGW. As for custom scenarios, I would play them, but I like to review them first and tend to avoid custom OOB or PDT variants.

Cheers.

There is an increase of interest for the Bg's since Matrix games edit them again. As Doug pointed out we have at least one young lieutenant who have only the BG's game. I know at least two french officers who prefer the BGs.
So don't worry, you will find somebody soon [:D] If no, please tell me and I will give you a first list of french who play BG.

Best regards
