Even though I have come to love the 16th L.D., and especially the picture of the lone border patrol I am using in my signature (I have not yet managed to update it, my apologies for the breach of etiquette), as it seems to represent my existence in this club quite nicely [;)], I am happy to make room for Dale and move over to the heavies.
The 2nd Dragoons (Scots Greys) are no bad regiment either. In fact, they are one of the oldest cavalry regiments of the line in the British army, and the oldest that will survive, amalgamated of course, into our (2008) time. It's rather funny that they, my new line assignment, will be merged, in 1971, with the product of the 1922 amalgamation of my present Guards regiment, the 3rd Dragoon Guards, with the 6th Dragoon Guards, forming the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.
