Oh dear, oh dear...

Not just a website typo either as it is repeated throughout the rule book.

Doesn't inspire me with much confidence I am afraid [V]

It says the British can build regiments of lancers - 'Chasseur Britanique' it calls them.[?][?] Hmmm... I'm not so sure about that....

Well, it does not literally suggest that Austerlitz was in 1808. Although I agree the title is prone to being misunderstood, on first glance. To describe 1808 as "the height of the Napoleonic Era" is not wrong. I suppose they just needed a catchy main title. And on the "game info" page the date for Austerlitz is correct.

Yes, Dierk has read my mind before I could reply. As Napoleonic warfare goes 1808 doesn't see many exciting battles to give a catchy title.
However the website doesn't inspire much confidence I have to say.

I accept Dierk's point; though I would question the opening statment in the Introduction to the Rules...

"AUSTERLITZ is a historical simulation set in the year 1808, at the start of Napoleon's rise to power"

wasn't he at the peak of his power in 1808 and it was downhill most of the way thereafter?

Regards

Mark

Absolutely. The guy who did the advertising lines for this games' website didn't know much history it seems.

Of course some Napoleonites like me would argue Napoleon's power may have peaked at 1809 but the peak of his personal powers may not have. His employment of central position in the 1815 campaign, his incredible campaign of 1814 and many of his battles within 1813 were all superb in the context of his available resources.

Study the Ligny deployment carefully or the penetration at Charleroi and I think you will find the master had not lost his touch.

In the end his supreme gamble of 1812 fundamentally changed the
geo-strategic situation and his ultimate defeat was decided at the gates of Moscow. 1812 was the key watershed IMHO. Losing 400000 odd troops tends to do that.

Ramble ramble...bit off the subject here

Salute!
