Awesome! This will put some realism into players protecting the Baggage train!

It also allows VP hexes to be mobile.

Glad to see the change.

Note: It only applies if the scenario designer set it to, and so far none of the scenarios have been changed to do so. This will probably change in the future, but anyone doing their own editing must be careful, as this can skew a scenario pretty badly if the points aren't allotted in a moderate manner.

Mssrs.,

Personally, I don't see the need for awarding points for the capture of supply trains.

In the Eckmuhl, Wagram & Jena games, at least, the capture of additional ammo is its own reward given the distinct shortage of ammo in most of the scenarios[:D]. On the one hand capturing a wagon deprives your opponent of what may be badly needed ammunition, on the other it may replenish your own troops in the nick of time. Moreover, once you start assigning points the CiC may actually force us to hand over all the schnapps we've been quietly accumulating. [:p]

Paco

Paco - which scenarios have a shortage of ammo. In my experience of playing our titles I have yet to have a problem with ammo.

Even artillery ammo seems to be plentiful.

Bill,

Although the amount of total ammo allocated is generally adequate, real difficulties often arise because not all units are within the requisite 5 hex distance to the allocated supply wagon(s). This can happen for a variety of reasons ranging from the wagons' inability to keep up with a rapid, cross-country advance, to the wide deployment of a Div or Corps standing on the defensive.

For instance, I am currently in the 2nd game of an Eck Campaign (Eck2bR.scn - Skirmish at Eckmuhl) in which a single wagon holds the ammo for all of St. Hillaire's Dv. Since St. Hillaire's Dv starts out spread across the entire battlefield, many units quickly reached a "low ammo" state, could not replenish, and progressed to "no ammo" status. [B)] More importantly (and the point of my original post), if the Austrians had managed to capture the lone wagon assigned to St. Hillaire's Dv, the entire Dv would have been placed at a severe disadvantage. To forestall that possibility, I kept the wagon well to the rear which in turn kept me from resupplying most of the units which went on low ammo status.[xx(]

Again, my post was not meant as a critique of the ammo allocations. Rather, my point is that the capture of enemy wagons already has a direct, tactical impact on the outcome of most battles. Given the importance of that impact, I see no need to also allocate "VPs" for their capture.[:)]

Regards,

Paco
