I got a new PC monitor with the screen wider than I had had earlier. It appears that on the new screen the battlefield of HPS Napoleonic games is accordingly wider, but the hexes and units become much smaller that they used to be (I play with 3D view). I can hardly see the units on the screen. It’s very uncomfortable to my eyes.
I tried to change zoom of the screen in the Windows control panel but in vain.
I appreciate any help how I can return the screen in the game to the previous zoom.

Experienced just the same. But the new resolution was so comfortable to me![8D] But at first as I was not used to it too spent some time trying to change it. You can use 3d zoom in view or change resolution of the screen. I didn't manage to find anything else.[:I]

Adjust the screen resolution -- go to the control panel; choose display; choose settings; adjust the screen resolution closer to 1024 x 780 pixels and your view should improve.

Sir Muddy is correct. A lower resolution will show less of the map, but everyting will be larger. However, if your monitor is a more modern LCD display then changing to a non 'native' resolution may result in a less sharp picture. If it is of the older CRT type though you won't have this problem.

Which game are you playing? If it is Eckmuhl or Wagram grab the original unit graphic bmp's back off the CD and place them in the relevant folder (map I think). One of the patches has made the 3d units the smaller NRC variety and the originals look better I think on higher screen res's

I am amazed. I didn't think anyone played using the 3D screen. I only use it to face skirmishers...otherwise it's all 2D. (Why I don't care about the unit grapjics - I never see them).

Thaks everybody.
To adjust the resolution in the Windows control panel was my first idea. Normally it enlarges the things on the screen, but in my case it just reduces the visible part of the screen. When the resolution is 1400 x 1500 the picture takes the full screen, and when the resolution is, say, 1024 x 780 the picture takes smaller space of the screen. It seems I have a very strange video-driver.

"I don't care about the unit grapjics". [:0] Well, variety and colorfulness of Napoleonic uniforms is one of the main things which attracts me in the warfare of this epoque.[;)]

Windows comes with a nifty Magnifier program. Its under:

Start menu -> Accessories -> Accessibility -> Magnifier

No, this is not the best fix but it is a nice tool. BUT it will mess up the placement of your desktop icons ...

Changing the resolution and refresh rate will do the trick. I run at 1280 x 1024 - 80 Mhz refresh rate. Works fine for me. Anything lower and it hurts my eyes (flicker).
