Gentlemen, what can I say, but Thank You for your kind thoughts.

I must admit that this is a great day. My new Guard Commander and the esteemed Commander of our fine I Corps, Generaal Rietveld (I think that would be Boss #3 now) is buying me drinks at one table, while the greatly respected and esteemed Commander of our II Corps is buying my drink at this one! Never being one to refuse such fine and kindly sentiments, and sincerely wishing to avoid any implied offense against either of these revered, senior officers, I will readily partake of both offers!

I am certain that my loyal Sergeant Major will be along when the festivities are concluded to ensure that I am safely returned to my tent, but if for some unforeseen reason he is detained, I would hope that you fine gentlemen would be so kind as to strap me to my horse as he knows the way home.

Humble opinion............from a French Imperial Guardsman................oh, Marechal Bardon you place me in stitches! That surely must be one of the funniest jokes I have heard all week! Why even by your most rigid, French standards, this dowdy Hanoverian, who is still so young in his career, would even now qualify for a place in Le Tondu's Juene Garde.

Really sir, you must share a drink with me, although I am certain by your attitude that you have most probably done me great harm on the field of Waterloo this day.

Ah, to think what might have been, had you chosen more wisely instead of allowing the folly of youth to direct you.

I sincerely hope that your lofty new appointment has led to an increase in your pay grade, as I have every intention of charging this night's libations to your tab.

My Dear Marechal Bardon, I would honestly question whether all of the money in the King's own coffers could support such drinking habits as yours, but I pledge that you may drink on my tab as long as my funds will sustain the activity. I have long said that a Guardsman of any army deserves the respect of all. I stand by my word, good sir, and continue to hold you in the highest esteem, despite our differences in opinion on the proper form of government one should be follow.

I agree (there's a shock, me agreeing with a red coat) that as a fellow guard you are to be accorded the greatest respect. However, in the interest of full disclosure and honest discourse between our two forces, I have to state that I like our Garde just a bit more than yours and may the blessings of fortune ever shine upon our endeavors in the service of l'Empereur.
