Lost my dad 10 years ago in March. I had quite a time clearing out my grandmother's house which he lived in (he took care of her - she died only one year before him).
If any of you missed seeing my home remodel website here is the link again:

I needed six dumpsters brought to my house and emptied before I got rid of most of the junk and then there was stuff that had to be torn out and torn down. I had a neighbor that would come by and take the junk away that he wanted. Saved me a lot of work.
Yet through it all I learned some basic wiring, created a new doorway, hung replacement windows, put up wood fences, installed exterior lighting, etc.
28 contractors came through my house to finish the rest. Everything from carpet to stucco repair to paving stones. See the website. Hard to believe it is the same house.
I moved from there in 2004 to Boise and have been here since then. I do not miss the old house as I never could get a good night's rest there. The neighborhood was loud with odd ball folks passing through in the middle of the night. One time about 30 people decide to party in my intersection. It was a lovely neighborhood but it was "old Granada Hills" and the rents were lower there.
I can still hear the doves cooing in the afternoon. Used to sit on the back porch as a kid and read novels while Grandma fixed a superb batch of fried chicken. No one made it like her. We would watch Dodger games on the old B&W TV and sit in the lounge chairs and relax. It was a great life for a kid.
Dad is gone but he left with me a great love for music. For that I am very grateful. He had a great sense of humor too like your dad, Mark Jones, and had a "rubber face." I think he was capable of any face you can think of.
