The English language publications were forced to speculate as the Russian texts were intentionally denied to Western scholars until relatively recently. I have no doubt that the truth lies somewhere in between. It always does.

You do severely underestimate me, Anton. I approach the study of history from a very broad perspective. It is the only manner in which you can discern the truth. You have to assemble all of the pieces to be able to see the true picture that lies beneath. You also must have a deep understanding of human nature to properly study any history of mankind.

I just realistically estimate importance of the language barrier. Devil is hidden in details, as we all know. And details are the worst suited to pass the barrier.

Its well understood today that the USSR deserves the lion's share of the credit for defeating Nazi Germany -inflicting 80% of Wehrmacht casualties, most of which occurred before June 1944. No one in the West has any excuse to be ignorant of this today.

Yes good call I agree. I recall the Germans had 200+ divisions in Russia vs 39 odd in France. Not to forget though the US supplied massive amounts of materials to the USSR. Including I recall a vast truck fleet.

However that's all irrelevant in this forum. It should go to 'off topic' for further debate.

Anton I just wanted to comment I am not sure if you are aware but Mark is working tirelessly on our club at the moment and whilst none of us claim to be perfect he is certainly a fair person and not ill informed or biased. Indeed I know from playing him he is a man of real honour and is quite scholarly in his historical understanding.

I think he is doing a fantastic job of president so far.
Which is an often thankless task I suspect.

Kind regards
Colin
