This is a momentous day for France!!!!

Image

On this day, on the field of Austerlitz, Tsar Alexander of Russia and Emperor Francis of Austria where humiliated in battle. Thousands of allied men are dead or fleeing back to their homes.

Our splendid legions have vanquished the Third coalition and brought peace to Europe.

Join France in its never ending struggle to throw off the shackles of the old regimes and bring glory to France and to her Emperor.

Vive la France! Vive l'Empereur!

Austria and Russia defeated, hurrah! English gold all for nought! :D

And just for the sheer amusement factor, the sideline sitting Prussians ought to be called out on this one, as their inaction helped pave the way for this most resounding of victories.

Yes, join France and see St. Helena!

The desert wastes of the Middle East! Get your free acre of sand so you can take your kids to the "beach" on weekends - but keep the pistol handy for stray Mamelukes.

Enjoy the snows of Russia - entertain cossacks in your camps. Learn how to dance with bears! See Siberia and have Al Amos deliver your mail from your home in Dunkirk.

Join the French army and enjoy the prison hulks of Gibraltar! 8)

Become a part of the Imperial Guard and make everyone else attack the hills and die! Be a Guardsman and be the scourge of Europe - and die bravely in front of a British horse battery!

Become a Marechal of France and pillage Europe - and enjoy a game of blind man's bluff at your execution! :D

Yes, wear the fluff and cologne and be the "dandy" of Paris. Marry into Napoleon's family and understand how well siblings can scheme.

Take up the call, do your all, enjoy the ball, perfume and all, then experience the fall!

Yes, that is France. La Glorie de la plume! Following Napoleon to his doom! 8)

Why Herr Peters, your poetic skills are most astonishing. Well said. I believe you managed to call out Ney and Murat very well indeed

However, I must point out that as well spoken as you might be, you remain blinded to the ancien regimes that hold your purse strings and proclaim flowery prose in the spirit of the fatherland only to remain a willing slave to the kaiser.

'tis a pity to be sure.

A Hanoverian Lieutenant Colonel quietly sits in his usual chair, watching the exchange beween five French officers and a lone Prussian General of Dragoons. The French seem to be having more of their delusional flashbacks to the days of their Empire's glory which have long faded into history. After all, the year is 1815 and the Corsican Ogre's Reign of Terror has finally been brought to an end through a combined effort of Herr Blucher's redoubtable Prussians and the mighty Anglo-Allied Army in which this particular Hanoverian serves. The veteran commander notes the ranks of the Frenchmen opposing his ally this day. Three Marechals, two of which are belong to the Old Guard, one even being the Commander of this most elite unit, a General and a brave, young Lieutenant oppose the solitary Prussian officer. The thought briefly crosses his mind to rise from his seat and join into the conversation, but he is comfortable, and besides, the French are already badly outnumbered anyway.

The Allied record of the Napoleonic wars is characterised by blunder after blunder, and yes you can all eventually turn to Waterloo and say smart things but the Emperor had been running rings around your aspirations for fifteen years. Only Wellington showed any real promise, mainly by sitting behind ridges and fighting defensive battles.
So honour this day with pride or respect, whatever your Army
Salut!

Vive La France! Vive L'Empereur!

You have to love it when everything comes together; strategy, tactics, talented leadership, esprit de corps. Austerlitz, a great day to be remembered; a great battle to be studied; a great victory to be honored through history.

Sounds like the Allies at Leipzig or Waterloo. Russians in 1812.... Dennewitz, Wahlstadt...

Austerlitz was a good battle for sure. Had Kutuzov been able to actually lead, it would probably be a different story....
