Having been sent by old Vorwarts somewhat belatedly with a battery to cover the backsides of his boisterous Hussars I arrived in time to verify the demise of one of Europe's most elegantly appointed out houses. Having missed the Rhine tavern bye some 40 paces the young French officers shot struck the out house, much to the displeasure of the French General officer residing within who no doubt was pondering the fate of the French empire in the location best suited for the task. There will be the devil to pay at French headquarters tonight !!!!!!
