Congratulations to Capitaine Stephane Lelievre for being named as the new commanding officer of 3rd Dragoon Division of Cavalry Reserve, La Grande Armee. Capt. Lelievre has been active on the battlefield and as an instructor for Ecole Militaire. He has fulfilled every task assigned with esprit de corps and demonstrated his leadership ability. It is a pleasure to welcome him to division command in La Grande Armee.

Our thanks to Capt. Lelievre for accepting this responsibility and duties of commanding officer.

Roll out the barrels of wine and let the festivities commence.

Vive L’Empereur!

Of course (clears throat) they didn't tell you (harumphs) what we did (chuckles) to the LAST commander!

Congrats to you, Capt. Lelievre, on your new command and may it last longer than your predecessor!

"Ah yes, the fate of the last French Commander of the 3rd Dragoons.... That was bad", says the Hanoverian Commander as he takes a shot of Jager to burn away the disturbing memory of the event.

Dismounts noticing Donkey's mentioned by Marechal Blackburn. Notices small piece of windmill tied to one of their backs.

Hmmm me thinks the Spanish perhaps, or a Cossack regiment has broken into the dutch province perhaps?

Well anyway Helga please bring drinks for Capitaine Lelievre. I salute you sir!

Gentlemen,

Thanks a lot for your kind words.

I am not sure it is a good idea to give a cavalry division to a native French captain...

1st because a captain is all testosterone and no brain (in the French army at least).

2nd because we French have a long tradition of sacrifying cavalry in magnificent but hopeless charges... Crecy, Azincourt, Waterloo, Reichshoffen... well, sometime it works

Anyway, I will try and do my best!

Amicalement.

Some are also questioning the wisdom in placing a Hanoverian Jager officer in charge of the 2nd Sqaudron of the British Guard Dragoons... Hey, it could be worse, at least you didn't shoot the British Commander of the 1st Squadron off his horse in front of your Army Commander!
