I would suggest that something like that should be resolved through the chain of command.

Maybe it was someone who wasn't familiar with the counter charge particularity (oh boy do I miss it) of the Talonsoft games...

All rules should be agreed upon by both players prior to the game starting.

It is the responsibility of both players to CHECK the options once the game begins (Turn 1) so that if an option was turned ON or OFF and it was not approved before the game then the game can be restarted.

And of course built in FEATURES in the engine .... well you cannot do anything about those.

I hate agreeing with a French officer....truly I do, but in this case I have no choice. Disputes of this type need to go through the chain of command rather then being aired on public forums.Hopefully the French officer in question accepts defeat and moves on or if he feels he has a case takes the high road and brings the mater up with his commander or a club officer.

I reckon the club would be better if everyone just dropped the house rules and said anything goes.
This would remove most of the arguments.

Sure with players we know and trust we can have them but when playing new guys this is probably best. Especially in the case of the new games as the 10 min moves and various changes to the engine have made them less reliant on house rules.

Now these things said I do play embedded melee in 15 min moves. I am talking generally here.

Well in this case it had nothing to do with House Rules. It had to do with a program feature that is enabled by optional rule. At least that was my recollection. If it was an embedded feature then really there should never have been an argument.

If folks agree to a house rule then cheating is never the issue. Cheating is where someone redoes their move or alters the game files or does something pretty sour. Violating a House Rule should never be a charge for cheating. Only where redoing turns or altering files comes into play.

"And a coffee for me as well", says the Hanoverian Guardsman as he walks toward the table where the Commander of Tondu's Chasseurs a Cheval de l'Vieille Garde is seated. "Only I take mine with cream and sugar", he says with a grin. "I have not yet graduated to the strong, black variety enjoyed by the good General here."

"Mind if I join you, sir? I don't see you as often here and we do have much to discuss."

What about an opponent who turns No PBEM Save on in two consecutive games? The first time I assumed I had inadvertently set it up that way, when confronted the second time he admitted it but was unapologetic.

If I had been cheating I would have been doing a lot better than I was.

Ah my dear Colonel Jones after this coffee we shall indulge in something stronger I think.

Also Colonel Shore join us my Margaux will sooth your spirits. Colonel Jones is sure to regale us with one of his long tales and despite the terrible colour of his uniform I do enjoy them so.

I must admit I have not had any one get too grumpy with me apart from my odd pushing of the game engine a tad much. One to many blitz that grabs a battery and sends it packing to Paris. I will add I was however instructed in such things by a certain Russian Master of Europe.

I see Colonel Marbot is still grumpy with me (as always) describing me as an individual. Well I guess I would hate to be two people
Although sometimes I do feel rather split by this pleasant life here as oppossed to the somewhat lacking in honour real world.

Ahhh Helga my wine....excellent a toast. I have decided to Toast Sir Muddy here - he is a most determined opponent.
Salute!

"A toast to Sir Muddy, one of the finest officers in the Anglo-Allied Army," says the Hanoverian Colonel as he takes a small sip of the steaming brew that Helga has placed before him.

"You know, General Knox, it took me quite some time to work free of that most uncomfortable cuirass that you 'welded' around my chest", grins the Hanoverian. "I still have the bruises I believe and a few minor burns where the cutting torch got a bit close. Still, I will honor my commitment to you to complete our current Leipzig engagement by your side, as opposed to attempting to ride you under from the opposite side of the field. I know that you will honor your word to me as well that neither my fine mentor, Generaal Moss, or the indomitable commander of the Russian Armies, General Kosyanenko, will be harmed. Once we succeed in taking them prisoner, and their armies have been summarily defeated, I am certain that you will repatriate them as promised."

"I will also be free of my obligations to France at that point and you will convince your commanding officer to destroy whatever Enlistment Papers he has pertaining to me. I know they are forgeries, as does my commanding officer, but they are very good forgeries."

"And regarding my consumption of alcohol in your presence, well, I will not abstain as that would not be polite. Let's just say that I will be a little more prudent in the future."

"To your continued good health, General. After all a Guardsman in any army, deserves the respect of all................however misguided his cause may be."

I have registered the result as the game stands, I only hope my opponent confirms in the near future.
