Major Amos,
Any tidings upon your battle with General Sands?
The semaphore station eagerly awaits the final tally of your epic battle against so many opponents at one time.
Regards,

Not yet. I was offline for a couple of weeks, and Ernie had (is having) a knee replaced.

Colonel Dumas, salute.
Was it General John Gaspard Le Marchant. He seemed to have gotten around a fair bit during the wars of this period. Designed a cavalry sword, I believe, as well as taking part in a fierce struggle that saw the defeat of Gen. LaSalle...
Regards,

He also led a unsuccessful rebellion against King Jerome of Westphalia 1809. Volunteered with Russian Army 1812-1813,! He's not Mark Jones  8) :?

Ach well, on my wrong answer above.
Regarding the uniform of my illustrious battalion, I've only ever seen them depicted in a legere style, green with red facings.
My men and I, being akin to rangers, are often found sneaking thru woods upon unsuspecting enemy artillery positions, and therefore wear our uni's out when on campaign, quite faster than the standard ligne formations. Thus, we wear what we can find as the struggle goes on.

It seems to me that the prodigious, yellow plume on the shako would entirely spoil any attempt at a stealthy approach. Typically showy in the French style, but far less practical than the cap of a Hanoverian Feld Jager.  :P

And my dear Colonel Dumas, you forget, I was a Westphalian officer in 1812, so of course it could not have been I who served in the Russian Army.

Yes, but it is how we dressed in those days, wasn't it? And, I find the figure rather imposing.

Colonel Dumas, that is Legere and Dragoons!
We work together, protecting the flanks and acting as the advance guard, good sir.
